The Influence of Aging and RAP Content on the Effectiveness of As-phalt Rejuvenators
[Purposes]This paper aims to analyze the effects of aging and reclaimed asphalt pavement(RAP)content on the effectiveness of asphalt rejuvenators.[Methods]Five rejuvenators, namely naph-thenic oil, aromatic hydrocarbon extract, paraffin oil, tall oil,and oleic acid, were selected to prepare various asphalt mixtures with RAP content of 25%and 45%,respectively.Asphalt was extracted from different asphalt mixtures after aging for 2 and 6 hours, respectively. The high and low temperature per-formance of different asphalt was tested by dynamic shear rheology and bending beam rheology tests.[Findings]The results show that compared with the control asphalt, the difference in high and low tem-perature failure temperatures between the regenerated asphalt containing different rejuvenators was less than 6℃,and the performance grading of high and low temperatures was consistent. The performance grading of regenerated asphalt containing paraffin oil is superior to that of regenerated asphalt containing other rejuvenators, and paraffin oil has a better effect on asphalt regeneration. The shear modulus values of regenerated asphalt are lower than those of control asphalt at different frequencies, and the anti fatigue cracking performance of the mixture containing rejuvenators is increased.[Conclusions]RAP content and aging have no significant effect on the effectiveness of asphalt rejuvenators.
