Study on the Composite Modification of Activated Carbon Fiber and Its Adsorption Properties
[Purposes]The adsorption performance of PAN-based activated carbon fiber(PAN-ACF)on sulfur dioxide(SO)was enhanced by a mild modification technique, aiming to develop a cost-effective and environment-friendly adsorbent material.[Methods]PAN-ACF was used as a precursor, and being PAN-ACF was modified with composite modification methods by using microwave and being soaked in varying concentrations of urea acid.[Findings]Among them, the optimal modification method to improve the adsorption performance of PAN-ACF to SO is soaking them in 4%urea and microwaving them with medium fire for 8 minutes, and by doing so,the absorption capacity is 147.15%higher than that of the original sheet.Combined with infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy,it is concluded that the composite modification technology can optimize the structure of activated carbon fiber and the loaded functional groups, thereby enhancing its adsorption.[Conclusions]The microwave heating and urea immersion modification techniques used in this study are green modification methods with better ap-plication prospects compared with traditional modification methods.
