The Spatiotemporal Analysis and Effectiveness Evaluation of Meteorological Warning Signals in Henan Province—A Case Study of the Continuous Heavy Rainfall in July 2024
[Purposes]By analyzing the spatiotemporal distribution characteristics and effects of meteoro-logical early warning signals during the continuous rainstorm in Henan Province in July 2024,the re-sponse ability of the early warning system is evaluated, which provides a scientific basis for the monitor-ing and response of meteorological disasters.[Methods]The research employs localized and typified sta-tistical methods to collect data on 2 722 meteorological disaster warning signals issued by 120 meteoro-logical stations from June 28 to July 31,2024.Time series analysis is conducted to compare historical ob-servation data, comprehensively analyzing the distribution characteristics, issuance frequency, and spe-cific features of different types of warning signals.[Findings]The results show that the warning signals are highly consistent with historical realities, and their spatial distribution accurately covers heavily af-fected areas such as Nanyang City.[Conclusions]This study validates the effectiveness of the meteoro-logical warning release system in Henan Province during this rainfall event, highlighting the differences in the quantity and timeliness of warning releases across different regions. It is suggested that future im-provements to the warning system should enhance its functionality and strengthen the multichannel dis-semination of warning information, thereby increasing the capacity and efficiency for responding to me-teorological disasters.
