Analysis of the Influence of Side Span Ratio on the Stability of Surrounding Rock in the Vertical Shaft to Horizontal Channel
[Purposes]This paper aims to explore the evolution of the surrounding rock failure mode of the vertical shaft to horizontal channel under different side span ratios.[Methods]Based on the finite ele-ment strength reduction method, the stability of the surrounding rock of the vertical shaft to horizontal channel was analyzed by ABAQUS analysis software.[Findings]Within a certain range,as the side span ratio increases, the self-stabilizing capacity of the surrounding rock of the shaft-to-transverse passage is improved, and the surrounding rock tends to be stable;then,as the strength reduction coefficient in-creases,the self-stabilizing capacity of the surrounding rock gradually weakens, and the safety de-creases.In addition, under different side span ratios, the failure surface of the surrounding rock when reaching the limit state occurs in the area where the free surface of the transverse passage of the shaft connects with the arch waist of the transverse channel, and with the increase of the side span ratio, the penetration area gradually moves from the top of the connection to the bottom.[Conclusions]During tun-nel design and construction, the influence of the side span ration on the stability of the surrounding rock of the shaft-to-transverse passage should be considered, and the support of the area where the free surface of the verti-cal shaft to horizontal channel connects with the arch waist of the transverse channel should be strengthened.
