The Effects of Sowing Date and Hot Water Seed Soaking on Seed Germination of Oil Peony Fengdan
Oil peony cv.'Fengdan'was used as materials in this study to investigate the effects of sowing date and hot water seed-soaking on their germination. The results show that the seed moisture content decreased significantly after one month of harvest.August is a suitable sowing period for oil peony'Fengdan',and the seed moisture content will significantly decrease when sowing after September.Soaking seeds in hot water can significantly increase the moisture content of'Fengdan'seeds. However, the water absorption capacity of'Fengdan'seeds significantly decreases with the extension of the storage period. The germination rate is positively correlated with the moisture content of'Fengdan'seeds.Hot water seed soaking can significantly increase the germination rate of'Fengdan'seeds sown in late August and early September.
