Analysis on the Impact of Continuous Rainy Weather During Wheat Harvest Period on Wheat Grain Quality and Yields in Xinyang City
Based on the winter wheat growth period and meteorological data in Xinyang City from 1961 to 2023,the characteristics of meteorological disasters caused by continuous rainy weather during the wheat harvest period in Xinyang City in the past 62 years are analyzed.Besides, the circulation situation and influence system of the continuous rainy weather in 2023 and its relationship with wheat grain germi-nation and mildew are also analyzed. The results show that:(1)From 1961 to 2022,there were a total of 11 continuous rain processes during the wheat harvest periods in Xinyang region, with a frequency of 1.8 times per decade. The occurrence probability was highest in late May.(2)The continuous rainy weather in Xinyang City in 2023 was mainly caused by the combined influence of low trough,low-level jet stream and shear line systems.(3)The impact of continuous rainy weather on wheat grain germination and mildew va-ries with the wheat varieties and sowing dates.Among the same wheat varieties, the moldy condition of late sowing wheat is slightly more serious than that of early sowing wheat. The germinations of late maturing wheat varieties are basically similar among the wheat with different sowing dates, while the germination of early maturing varieties gradually becomes less serious as the sowing dates are delayed. With the same so-wing date, the mildew of early maturing wheat varieties is slightly more serious than that of late maturing wheat varieties. With the sowing date delayed, the mildew rates of winter wheat gradually become consist-ent,and the germination of early maturing wheat varieties is more serious than that of late maturing varie-ties.(4)The higher the overlap between the number of consecutive rainy days and the mature harvest pe-riod of winter wheat, the more serious the decline in wheat quality and yields.
