The Variation of Purog Kangri Glacier and Basin Lake and Its Response to Climate Change During 1976-2016
Using multi-temporal Landsat series satellites dataset, temperature and precipitation data, and ARCGIS spatial analysis, linear trend analysis, correlation analysis methods, the area variations of glaciers and lakes in the Purog Kangri basin during 1976-2016 and its responds to climate change were studied. The results showed that the glacier area of Purog Kangri significantly retreated in the past 41 years, with the glacier area decreased 52.32 km2,12.01%.The retraction in northwestern glaciers(NW)was most severe, which is 12.29 km2,15.77%.The ablation of Purog Kangri Glacier was more pronounced at the end of northwestern(NW),northern(N),eastern(E)and southeastern(SE),with other areas retreat in different extent. The area of lake in the glacial basin showed a significant increase trend, and the area increased by 28.57%,27.17 km2.The temperature in glacial basin showed a signif-icant trend of increase, averaged at 0.48 ℃ per 10 years. The precipitation showed a non-significant up-ward trend, with an average increase of 15 mm per 10 years. The continuous increase of temperature is the main factor for the change of glaciers and basin lakes, while precipitation has little effect.
