Extraction of polysaccharide from melon peel and its effect on immune regulation of Cyprinus carpio
The aim of this study was to investigate the immunomodulatory effects of Watermelon peel polysac-charide(WP)on Cyprinus carpio. In this study, different concentrations of extracted WP(250 μg/mL,500 μg/mL,1000 μg/mL)were co-cultured with head kidney monocytes.Neutral red intake method and MTT colorimetry were used to determine the effects of different concentrations of WP on the proliferation and phagocytic activity of head kidney monocytes.Cytokines(TNF-α,IL-10,IL-1β,TGF-β),nitric oxide(NO)content and alkaline phosphatase(AKP)activity were measured to evaluate the immunomodulatory effects of WP.The results showed that WP could promote the proliferation capacity and phagocytosis activity of head kidney cells, significantly up-regulate the con-tents of cytokines and NO,and enhance the activity of AKP in a certain concentration range. The results showed that WP had immunomodulatory effects on common carp, and WP could be used as a feed additive to improve the immunity of common carp.
