Through interviews with 51 teachers who work with Journalism and Communication Department of Chinese u-niversities on their knowledge, perception and evaluation of the"the third-person effect",we take this as a window to see how"Chinese journalism and communication academic circles"imagine"effect study"at the level of"knowledge".On the whole,Chinese scholars of journalism and communicationgenerally consider"the third-person effect"as of"an important but secondary important position".A"classification-comparison"at the levels of"academic experience"and"degree of under-standing"shows that the"empirical group"with experience in empirical research are generally more aware of"the third-per-son effect",and their evaluation of its relative importance is more convergent(it is important but secondary).Comparatively, the"reference group"without experience in empirical research are more significantly different in their evaluation, but they are more inclined to imagine the position and meaning of"effect study"as a whole in the entire subject knowledge system.
