From Displacement Imperative to Discourse Marker:the Interactive Function of"lai(来)"in Natural Conversations
From the perspective of interactive communication,this paper investigates the position distribution and inter-active function of"lai(来)",which is used independently in natural conversations.This research is consistent with the law of language development.It is found that"lai(来)"mainly appears in the middle in terms of conversational rounds,and in terms of sequence position,it mainly appears in the initiating part of the conversation,located in the first pair parts of invita-tion-answer sequence or summons-answer sequence.In addition to the"displacement imperative"function,"lai(来)"also has a series of discourse marker functions,including"inviting and summoning"function,"shifting topics"function,and"leading in turn"function,among which"inviting and summoning"is the most important interactive function.The interactive func-tions of"lai(来)"change from real to virtual in the following order:displacement imperative＞inviting and summoning＞shifting topics＞leading in turn.The interactive function of"lai(来)"is the result of the combined action of intersubjectivity and its own semantic compatibility.
