Resistance or Compromise?The Awakening of Digital Privacy Awareness and the Transformation of Future Communication Ecology
In the digital age,individuals'online and offline lives are exposed to an accessible and trackable digital space.Research has found that privacy awareness is gradually evolving from a narrow,private domain concept to a collective"con-sensus"that may influence social development and shape the future communication ecology.Specifically,the historical trajec-tory from traditional privacy to digital privacy indicates that the awakening of privacy awareness in the digital age has multi-faceted motivations.Users'"imagined resistance"to privacy infringement has become a new social force.As a potential varia-ble,digital privacy awareness impacts the construction of future communication ecology from three aspects:the macro social environment,media technology development,and individual social behaviors.Moreover,discussions on digital privacy awareness should avoid falling into the pitfalls of techno-determinism and libertarianism.Instead,a balanced perspective should be adopted,clarifying the boundaries between public and private,and guiding technology towards benevolent uses.This approach will help rationally guide and regulate digital privacy dilemmas,promoting harmonious development between digital technology and public interests.
