Research on the Spatial-Temporal Characteristics of Air Quality in Hunan:Empirical Study Based on Functional Data Analysis
This study adopted functional data analysis techniques to investigate the spatial-temporal character-istics,influencing factors,and future development trends of air quality index(IAQ)in Hunan during the period from 2015 to 2021.Results show as follows.(1)From the temporal perspective,the proportion of days with excel-lent and good air quality increases from 79.2%in 2015 to 94.35%in 2021;in terms of seasons,the IAQ is highest in autumn and winter,followed by spring,while summer has the best air quality.(2)From the spatial perspective,the eastern,central,and north-central regions in Hunan have poorer air quality,while the western,northwest,southern,and southeastern regions have better air quality.(3)Among the meteorological factors,the temperature and rainfall are helpful to improve the air quality,while the wind speed is not conducive to the improvement of air quality,and the order of impact intensity follows:temperature>rainfall>wind speed.(4)Among the socio-economic factors,main reasons for the deterioration of air quality in Hunan are the proportion of the secondary in-dustry in the GDP and the level of urbanization,but the urban green coverage rate effectively improves the air qual-ity.(5)Compared with the traditional time series model,our results show that the forecast performance of the func-tional time series model is better.
