Characteristics and Influencing Factors of the Level of Ecological Civilization Construction in the Yangtze River Economic Belt
The level of ecological civilization construction in the Yangtze River Economic Belt is related to the green and coordinated development capacity of the Yangtze River Basin, which profoundly affects the ecological se-curity pattern of China. This paper constructed an evaluation index system from three levels(i.e.,ecological econo-my,ecological environment and ecological society)to measure the level of ecological civilization construction in the Yangtze River Economic Belt using an improved TOPSIS method model, and analyzed its influence factors using a geographically weighted regression model(GWR).Main findings of the study are as follows.(1)From 2011 to 2020,the ecological civilization construction level of the Yangtze River Economic Belt shows an overall upward trend, gradually spreading from east to west along the axis.(2)The construction level of each subsystem is charac-terized by significant heterogeneity, with the ecological economy construction level being higher in the east than that in the west, with the lower reaches of the Yangtze River and the provincial capital cities as cores radiating around. The ecological environment level grows faster in the provincial capitals and their surrounding cities, while the indus-trial development cities have different degrees of decrease. The high value areas of eco-social level are concentrated in Jiangsu,Zhejiang and Shanghai, while the low value areas are scattered in the capital cities of the middle and upper reaches of the provinces.(3)Topography,urbanization level of resident population, share of tertiary indus-try,Engel coefficient, and share of financial expenditure on science and technology all positively influence the level of ecological civilization construction in the studied areas, and the number of college students per 10,000 people is weakly negatively correlated with the level of ecological civilization construction.
