Spatial Distribution Characteristics and It's Influencing Factors of National-Level Specialized and Sophisticated"Little Giant"Firms in the Yangtze River Economic Belt
Novel specialized and sophisticated enterprises are the main force to empower the Yangtze River Economic Belt to drive innovation and form new regional competitive advantages.Exploring the spatial distribution characteristics and its influencing factors of national-level"little giant"firms is of great significance to promote the innovation, development, transformation and upgrading of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Yangtze River Economic Belt.We used the nearest neighbor index, kernel density estimation, buffer analysis, geographic detec-tor,Tobit model and other methods to explore the spatial distribution characteristics and its influencing factors of 4 673 national-level"little giant"firms in the Yangtze River Economic Belt. The results show as follows.(1)The"little giant"firms in the Yangtze River Economic Belt generally show a significant agglomeration characteristic of being"more densely packed in the downstream area relative to the middle and upper reaches of the region, and dif-ferentiation in the upper, middle and lower reaches".In the lower reaches, there is a spatial distribution of"one core and one ring"with Shanghai as the core and some cities in southern Jiangsu and northern Zhejiang as the radi-ation driven;while in the middle and upper reaches, there are discrete"multi-point"spatial distribution character-istics with the municipalities and provincial capitals as the important agglomeration centers.(2)The number of"little giant"firms based on different offshore distances of the Yangtze River presents the characteristics of"decrea-sing first, then increasing and once more decreasing upon increasing the offshore distance of the mainstream of the Yangtze River".(3)Based on the industry characteristics, all kinds of"little giant"firms mostly show the agglom-eration distribution characteristics of"core-piece-point"in space, but the agglomeration intensity and agglomeration area are significantly different. The lower reaches of the Yangtze River have a strong degree of agglomeration,main-ly gathering capital and technology-intensive industries such as high-tech manufacturing and high-tech services, while the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River have a weak degree of agglomeration, mainly gathering re-source-and labor-intensive industries such as food, textile, mining and processing industries.(4)The spatial dif-ferentiation of"little giant"firms is the result of the comprehensive effect of multiple factors, and higher education resources, development zone policies, innovation output, and foreign trade dependence are the key factors affecting the spatial distribution and coordinated development of specialized and sophisticated"little giant"firms in the Yan-gtze River Economic Belt.
