As the most tragic talented woman writer of the 20th century,Xiao Hong has enjoyed a sustained and profound influence in the literary world,and the study of Xiao Hong has always been one of the hot spots in the field of modern Chinese literature.The various studies as to Xiao Hong have enriched the"Xiao Hong image",but has meanwhile also led to complex internal contradictions in the constructed image of Xiao Hong in the external world,thus making her image increasingly complicated and confusing.An image of"Xiao Hong"stared at by others is con-structed by virtue of the discourses of different perspectives,including those of her family members,partners,com-panions,friends,and successors;while another image of Xiao Hong—a self-image with subjectiveity—has been at-tempted by Xiao Hong herself in various literary texts.The discourses on and by Xiao Hong are two aspects of stud-ies on Xiao Hong,which constitute a type of latent dialogue.Therefore,it is necessary to delve into the various gaps and contradictions between the two,and then explore whether other people's definitions of female roles and person-alities are biased when women are unable to speak by themselves,and whether the subjectivity of female self-image can be established,so as to reflect on the common dilemma faced by other female writers of Xiao Hong's era.
