The essay Failure and Success was written by Liang Bin in response to the expulsion of Principal Zhang Chenqing from the Second Normal School in Baoding, and is also his earliest written work published in news-papers and periodicals, while the essay An Interpretation of Such a Countryside is a reflection on Yi Jun's article Such a Countryside and marks the beginning of Liang Bin's attention to rural issues.Miscellaneous Notes on Litera-ture can be regarded as early literary notes by Liang Bin.The poem Oath is not only an emotional outburst after Li-ang Bin experienced a series of events such as the"July 6th"massacre at the Second Normal School in Baoding and the Gao Li Uprising, but also indicates that he has continued to write poems in addition to essays and novels. The four articles were published in The Tianjin Edition of Ta Kung Pao,while the essays The Sacrificial Victims of the Times—Rural Girls and From the Life of Chinese Rural Women to Healthy Women were published in The World Daily, focusing on rural women and challenging the concept of"civilization".The six articles were signed by Liang Bin under his pen name and are not included in the 2014 edition of The Complete Works of Liang Bin,so they can basically be confirmed as Liang Bin's lost works. As can be seen from his lost works, under the leadership of the revolutionary wave and the"Left League",Liang Bin actively practiced and took the first step in literary creation, for during this period,he had already begun to develop his writing consciousness and revolutionary feelings, thus laying a solid foundation for his revolutionary activities and literary creation.
