Digitalization of the Embodied Subject:An Ethical Study of Public and Private Moral Failures
The digital network,a key space for modern life, has a dual nature. It promotes personal freedom but also blurs the lines between individuals and society, leading to moral challenges and weakening of social functions. This affects both how people exist physically and digitally, subjecting them to societal and self-imposed rules that can distort individual identity. These effects impact both online and offline worlds. From a phenomenological viewpoint, this study examines the moral issues within digital networks and uses the ideas of Kant,Horkheimer, and Foucault on"enlightenment"to highlight the ongoing need for enlightenment in modern society. It explores how individuals and society can achieve ethical enlightenment, showing how their rational development is interconnected. The goal is to move from imposed moral teachings to self-guided ethical understanding, aiming for a society where free individuals can coexist harmoniously, pointing towards a future where such ideals can be realized.
