Current situation and development prospect of basalt fiber reinforced composites
Basalt fiber(BF)is extensively employed in the research and development of various basalt fiber reinforced polymers(BFRPs)because of its advantages for environmental protection,high strength,corrosion resistance,and sound insulation.There are still issues with BFRP preparation,fundamental knowledge,and application at this time.However,the current research on the above problems lacks a sys-tematic summary.Therefore,it examines the current preparation and production process,reinforcement mechanism and application status of BFRP,summarizes and puts forward the development and application difficulties of BFRP,and provides solutions as well as future di-rections for research.It demonstrates that BFRP based on the ideal single fiber blend is continuously applied in civil engineering transporta-tion,oil transportation,aviation,and aerospace and that BFRP application is on the rise.However,the research on the preparation process of new BFRP,such as BF fiber blending,BF interface modification,and high-performance BF,is insufficient,which limits the research and development of high-performance and low-power composite BF.The specifications and standards for the whole process of BFRP pro-duction and application are still incomplete,which limits the promotion and application of BFRP.BFRP will perform better and use fewer energy thanks to the ongoing research and development of high-performance BF and the continual development of innovative technologies.The period of extensive BFRP application will be in the future.The research serves as a point of reference for the development and applica-tion of BFRPs with excellent performance and low energy consumption.
