Experimental study on mechanical properties of PVA fiber reinforced concrete for rail transportation engineering
In order to improve the mechanical properties of concrete for rail transportation engineering, the effects of different lengths of PVA fiber with different contents on the mechanical properties of concrete specimens were studied through compression strength, flexural strength and splitting tensile strength tests, and the mechanism of PVA fiber improving the mechanical properties of concrete was analyzed. The experimental results show that the addition of PVA fibers can effectively improve the mechanical properties of concrete.Choosing a length of 10 mm PVA fibers, when its content is 0.3%,compared with the reference concrete specimen without fibers, can increase the compressive strength by 3.64%.When the content of PVA fiber is 0.4%,the flexural strength and splitting tensile strength of concrete specimens can be increased by 33.33%and 38.71%,respectively.Overall,the addition of PVA fibers significantly improves the flexural strength and splitting tensile strength of concrete specimens, while the improvement in compressive strength is relatively small. Therefore, the addition of PVA fiber can significantly improve the toughness of concrete structures, which can extend the service life of concrete structures for rail transportation engineering.
