Three-dimensional morphology of local typical rust peaks at the rebar-protective layer interface
The accumulation and expansion of corrosion products at the interface between the protective layer and the steel bar will cause the cracking of the protective layer. The morphology of rust peak formed at the interface of reinforced concrete under chloride erosion was studied by X-ray nondestructive testing. The surface of rust peak was triangulated. Some morphological indexes such as elongation index, flatness index, sphericity and convexity were introduced. The shape of rust peak was divided based on K-means clustering algorithm. The results show that the morphology of rust peak is mainly oblate, oblate semi-ellipsoid,semi-ellipsoid and hemispherical, and the morphology of rust peak is unstable. The convexity index of rust peak conforms to Burr distribution law,and the sphericity and convexity index of rust peak under different corrosion rates are consistent with the development trend of crack width of protective layer.
