Effect of powder ratio and sand to glue ratio on mechanical properties of ECC
In order to research the effects of powder ratio and sand to gel ratio on the mechanical properties of ECC,cubic compressive tests and uniaxial tensile tests were carried out on ECC cubic specimens and dumbbell type specimens made with different powder ratio and sand to gel ratio, and the energy ratio method was applied to express the ductility index of ECC.The test results showed that ECC showed a multi-point cracking pattern under axial compression and tensile loading, and exhibited obvious ductile damage characteristics. With the increase of powder ratio, the compressive and tensile strength of ECC decreases significantly. The increase of powder ratio can ef-fectively improve the cracking resistance of ECC and increase the compressive toughness of ECC,making it have a good energy absorption effect, the tensile toughness shows a tendency to increase first and then decrease.Increasing the sand to glue ratio also reduces the compres-sive and tensile strength of ECC,but will increase the ductility and toughness of ECC first and then decrease. The toughness of ECC reach-es the optimum level when the sand to glue ratio is 0.4 and the powder ratio is 0.6.
