The first mode frequency and damping ratio of concrete specimens in the elastic stage were tested adopting the beam free vibration attenuation method. It explored the effects of aggregate particle size, fly ash content,water-cement ratio and sand-aggregate ratio on damping performance, and analyzed combine with nanoindentation characteristic values of interfacial transition zone(ITZ)and matrix. The results indicate that reducing the particle size of coarse aggregate or adjusting the sand-aggregate ratio reasonably can improve both strength and damping performance of concrete. However, the fly ash content and water-cement ratio promote the damping performance inevitably bring about an adverse impact on the strength.
