The essential nature of rebar corrosion is an electrochemical reaction, which is influenced by many factors, and chloride ion erosion tends to cause pitted corrosion of rebar.Pit erosion can contribute to stress concentration phenomena, aggravating the performance deterioration of rusted reinforcement. However, mass loss cannot accurately characterize pit erosion.Probabilistic models of rust pit distribution and performance deterioration models of rusted support have been established by different scholars to accurately describe the morphological characteristics and performance deterioration patterns of rusted reinforcement. These models can further predict the performance degradation of the rusted RC members. The differences in the models established by different scholars illustrate the complexity of the corrosion problem of reinforcing bars and point out that setting generalized rusted reinforcing bar principal structure equations considering spatial and temporal evolution is one of the subsequent research directions. The fatigue performance of rusted reinforcement is also affected by pit corrosion.Through the analysis of the current research status of fatigue performance of rusted support, the law of the effect of pit corrosion on fatigue performance is described, and the fatigue life prediction method of reinforcement is summarized.
