Study on discrete broken wires failure of PCCP under constant and cyclic internal pressure
Based on the prototype test of discrete broken wire failure of prestressed concrete cylinder pipe(PCCP)under constant internal pressure, the cyclic internal pressure was considered during the wire breakage process. The entire process of the pipe body experiencing continuous wire breakage until failure due to frequent water stoppages and restarts was simulated.A numerical model based on whole circumference removal of broken wires was established and compared with the experimental results. The results show that compared to constant internal pressure, cyclic internal pressure significantly advances the extension time of the steel wire fracture, causing the discrete broken wires to converge in the circumferential direction earlier. The number of discrete broken wires during pipe failure calculated based on the numerical model of whole circumference removal of broken wires is 130,with a wire breakage rate of 42.9%.The number of discrete broken wires measured during cyclic and constant internal pressure pipe failure are 140 and 185,respectively,with wire breakage rates of 46.2%and 61.1%.
