Analysis of Factors Related to Erectile Dysfunction in Obese Men
Objective To investigate the factors related to erectile dysfunction(ED)in obese men. Methods According to the Inter-national Index of Erectile Function(IIEF-5)score,77 obese male ED patients(ED group)who were treated in the Andrology Clinic of the Reproductive Medical Center of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from 2021-10 to 2023-02 were selected, and 77 obese male non-ED patients(non-ED group)who accepted pre-fertilizayion examination in the center at the same time were selected.According to the IIEF-5 score, the ED patients were stratified into groups, with 45 cases in the mild group and 32 cases in the moderate and severe group.Clinical data and laboratory test data of the two groups were collected and statistically analyzed. Then the factors associated with ED in obese men were analyzed. Results The waist-to-hip ratio(WHR),body mass index(BMI),homocysteine(Hcy)and fasting blood glu-cose(FPG)levels in the ED group were higher than those in the non-ED group, and the IIEF-5 score was lower than that in the non-ED group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The results of stratified analysis of ED degree showed that the age,WHR,BMI,Hcy,FPG,and triglyceride(TG)levels of the moderate and severe group were higher than those of the mild group, and the IIEF-5 score was lower than that of the mild group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The elevations of WHR,BMI,Hcy and FPG are associated with ED in obese men.Age,BMI,and Hcy,FPG,and TG levels have certain guiding value in the diagnosis and the severity evaluation of ED in obese men.
