Sedative effect of dexmedetomidine using different doses of oral mucosal spray or intranasal sedation before exami-nation of children's electroencephalography
Objective To observe the sedative effect of different doses of dexmedetomidine(Dex)oral mucosal spray or nasal drip in children's electroencephalography(EEG).Methods Totally 151 children were randomly divided into D1(n=38),D2(n=38),D3(n=37)and D4 group(n=38)based on Dex 2.5 μg/kg and 3 μg/kg in oral mucosa spray or nasal drop. The scores of alertness and sedation scale(OAA/S),MAP,HR and SpO2 were recorded baseline(T0)and after administration 10 min(T1),20 min(T2),30 min(T3)and 40 min(T4).The one-time success rate, induction time, examination time,wake-up time, adverse reactions at the sedation and the changes of se-dation effect,MAP,HR and SpO2 of the four groups at different time points were observed. Results The induction time in D1 and D3 groups and D1 and D2 groups, and the wake-up time in D3 and D4 groups were significantly different(P<0.05);There were statistical differences in the OAA/S scores between D1 and D2 groups and D3 and D4 groups at T2 and between D3 and D4 groups at T4,all P values P<0.05.There was a statistically significant difference in MAP between D1 and D2 groups at T2(P<0.05);There were statistical differences in HR be-tween D1 and D2 groups T1 and between D1 and D2 groups and D3 and D4 groups at T3(P<0.05).Conclusion The Dex 3 μg/kg intranasal instillation before EEG examination in children has fast induction time, high success rate and good sedative effect. It is a safe and effective se-dation method before EEG examination.
