Antibody levels against group A and C Neisseria meningitis among healthy population in Yanshi district,Luoyang city in 2020
Objective To explore antibody levels against group A and C Neisseria meningitis(Nm)among a healthy population in Yanshi district,Luoyang city, and provide scientific evidence for the prevention and control of meningococcal meningitis.Meth-ods Serum samples were collected from healthy individuals selected by a stratified random sampling technique in Yanshi district,Luoyang city in 2020.At the same time,a questionnaire-based survey was conducted among the selected individuals. The serum samples were tested by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay to detect serum IgG antibodies against group A and C Nm to de-termine positivity rates and median concentrations(MC).Results Among the 628 individuals surveyed, the overall positive rates of antibodies against serogroup A and C Nm were 51.59%and 40.76%,respectively(x2=14.81,P<0.05),and the MC of the anti-bodies were 2.13 μg/mL and 1.49 μg/mL(H=33.28,P<0.05),respectively.By age group, positive rates of antibodies against group A ranged from 13.85%to 71.43%(x2=109.40,P<0.05)with the lowest in the 1-<3 years old group and the highest in the 20-<40 years old group, and they ranged from 13.85%to 70.48%against group C(x2=90.98,P<0.05)with the lowest in the 0-<1 years old group and the highest in the 40-<60 years old group.Among the surveyed individuals aged<15 years and hav-ing the clear vaccination history, the positive rates of antibodies against group A gradually increased with the doses of vaccinations from 1 to 4;they increased from 0 to 2 doses against serogroup C.The antibody levels against group A and C Nm both reached to a minimum 1-<2 years after last vaccination(all P<0.05).Conclusions Antibody levels against group A and C Nm among the healthy population in Yanshi district,Luoyang city, were relatively low.It is suggested to strengthen surveillance of meningococcal meningitis and optimize the immunization strategy of meningococcal vaccine.
