Status of preventive treatment among 1 307 persons re-exposed to rabies provided by a vaccination clinic in Pingdingshan city of Henan province,2020
Objective To understand the status of preventive treatment among the persons re-exposed to rabies in Pingdingshang so as to provide the evidence for rabies prevention and control in this region.Methods The data on the persons re-exposed to rabies at a preventive treatment clinic in Pingdingshan city were collected,and inquire,examine,prevent and dispose of patients.Descriptive epidemiological analysis was conducted using SPSS 13.0 and Excel 2003 software.Results A total of 1 307 persons re-exposed to rabies were reported in 2020,accounting for 11.36%of the persons with rabies exposure reported throughout the year.The re-exposure mainly concentrated from May to August(49.67%);The children under 15 years old were the high-risk group(29.92%).The proportion of the re-exposures occurring between 3-12 months after rabies vaccination was 20.43%.Of the persons with the re-exposure,53.02%were injured by their own pets.The average animal vaccination rate was 53.33%;cats had a low vaccination rate of 46.02%.47.05%persons had the wound treated correctly at the first time after rabies re-exposure.The proportion of the re-exposed persons with starting time for medical treatment met the standards was 88.93%,and the persons with 1-3days delay was relatively high(9.56%).The proportion of the persons with vaccination completion conforming to the standard was 97.51%,and the persons with vaccination delay accounted for 1.32%.Conclusions The re-exposure rate of rabies in the studied vaccination clinic in Pingdingshan city is high,and the correct treatment rate after exposure is relatively low.It needs to strengthen the promotion and education of rabies prevention and control knowledge,standardize post exposure vaccination,and focus on high-risk groups such as children under 15 years old;strengthen dog animal management and increase animal vaccination rate.
