The prevalence of smoking in Henan province residents aged 15 and above in 2020
Objective To describe the status of smoking behavior among residents aged 15 and above in Henan province, and evaluate the effects of tobacco control,so as to provide a basis for the formulation of tobacco control strategies and measures. Methods Using multi-stage stratified cluster probability sampling method to determine the survey subjects, collecting basic information about the survey subjects, tobacco use, smoking cessation, and exposure to second-hand smoke through face-to-face questioning. The data were analyzed by complex sampling weighted analysis. Results A total of 5 625 respondents were surveyed, with 1 283 current smokers and a current smoking rate of 22.28%.A total of 1 267 males smoked, with a current smoking rate of 44.43%,and 16 females, with a current smoking rate of 0.58%.There were differences in the prevalence of smoking among different age groups(x2=19.222,P<0.05),with the highest prevalence in the 25-<45 age group(26.06%).In terms of urban and rural areas, although the current smoking rate of urban people(23.81%)is slightly higher than that of rural people(21.68%),the difference is not statistically significant(x2=0.057,P>0.05).The average number of cigarettes smoked per day was 16.0,including 16.1 for men and 11.9 for women. The average daily smoking volume of smokers varies among different age groups, with the lowest(10.3 cigarettes)in the age group of 15-<25 and the highest(17.1 cigarettes)in the age group of 45-<65.Among daily smokers, nearly one in seven people(13.88%)started smoking daily before the age of 18,and the average age of daily smokers started smoking daily is gradually getting younger(F趋势=32.385,P<0.05).Conclusions The current smoking rate of residents aged 15 and above in Henan province is generally lower than the national average.Compared with previous results, the smoking rate of people aged 15 years and above in Henan province shows a declining trend, but there is still a significant gap between achieving the tobacco control target of"Healthy China 2030"Plan Outline. It suggests that health education on the hazards of smoking should be strengthened and promote brief smoking cessation interventions to improve smokers'willingness to quit smoking.
