Establish an ion chromatography method for simultaneous determination of five disinfection by-products in drinking water
Objective To establish an ion chromatography method for the simultaneous determination of five disinfect by-products including chlorite(C1O2-),bromine(BrO3-),dichloroacetic acid(DCAA),chlorate(C1O3-)and trichloroacetic acid(TCAA)in drinking water. Methods According to the new National Standard Ion Chromatography Method for the Determination of Disinfection Byproducts(GB/T 5750.10-2023),combined with the ion concentration in drinking water in Xinxiang urban area and the conditions of laboratory instruments, the large-capacity IonPacAS27 and IonPacAS19 anion exchange analysis columns were selected to optimize the column temperature, detection pool temperature and concentration of leach;appropriate detection conditions were chosen that could simultaneously analyze the five disinfection by-products mentioned above through single sample adding. Results IonPacAS27 anion exchange analysis column was selected, with the column temperature of 30 ℃ and the detection pool temperature of 30 ℃,and the initial concentration of leach was 10 mmol/L.The detection limits of C1O2-,BrO3-,DCAA,C1O3-and TCAA were 0.50 μg/L,1.05 μg/L,1.09 μg/L,0.60 μg/L and 1.18 μg/L,respectively,with linear correlation coefficients ranging from 0.999 1 to 0.999 4.The recoveries were between 90.0%and 99.0%.Compared with the national standard method, the detection limit of the method met the requirements, and the actual water sample detection results were accurate and reliable. Conclusions The method can determine five disinfection by-products in drinking water at the same time, which is convenient,time-saving and efficient so as to popularize in basic-level laboratory.
