Surveillance results for foodborne disease outbreaks in Zhumadian of Henan,2016-2022
Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of foodborne disease outbreaks in Zhumadian,and provide scientific basis for formulating targeted prevention and control measures.Methods Statistical description was used to analysis the reported information of foodborne disease outbreaks in Zhumadian from 2016 to 2022,which was extracted from the Foodborne Disease Outbreak Surveillance System.Results During 2016-2022 in Zhumadian,a total of 119 foodborne disease outbreaks were reported,with 2 363 persons with exposure,461 cases and 1 death.The attack rate was 19.51%,and the case fatality rate was 0.25%.The attack rate during 7 years was between 6.41%and 68.00%,and the difference was significant(P<0.001).The incidence peak occurred from May to September,and 98 events were reported from May to September,accounting for 82.35%of the total number of incidents,of which 41 events(34.45%)and 122 patients(26.64%)were reported in July.The largest numbers were reported from Yicheng district,with 55 events(46.22%)and 248 patients(53.80%).Families(53.78%)and food service places(42.86%)were the main places of occurrence.There were 40 events(33.62%)caused by cooked meat products and poisonous mushrooms,17 events(14.29%)caused by mis-ingestion and mis-use,and 19 events(15.97%)caused by fungi and toxins.There were 57 events(47.90%)with unknown factors and 85 events(71.43%).with unknown pathogenic factor.Conclusions Poisoning of poisonous mushrooms and cooked meat products are the focus of foodborne disease outbreaks prevention and control in Zhumadian.It is necessary to carry out targeted food safety supervision and publicity and education.Unknown-cause outbreaks account for a large proportion,and it needs to strengthen technical training and to improve the ability of epidemiological investigation and laboratory testing in disease control and prevention institutions in counties/districts.
