Objective To investigate the food consumption of urban residents in Pingdingshan, assess the dietary structure of the residents, and provide a scientific evidence for the revision of nutrition-related policies and the development of nutrition knowl-edge education. Methods A multi-stage stratified cluster random sampling method was used to select the participants from people aged 3 years and above;the discontinuous 3-day 24-h dietary review method and food weighing method were used to investigate the food and seasoning consumption. Results In 2020 a total of 119 households with 406 people were investigated, the consump-tion rate of bean, egg and vegetable fungus products in the past month were 40.12%,34.81%and 29.05%respectively,relatively high. The median daily intakes of grains and potatoes, eggs, and edible salt per person were 502.70 g,55.31 g,and 5.91 g,respec-tively;the median daily intake per person was 203.87 g for vegetables,52.86 g for fruits,0.00 g for aquatic products,0.00 g for milk and dairy products, and 12.93 g for soybeans and nuts;the median daily intake was 75.51 g for livestock and poultry meat, and 26.16 g for edible oil.The intake of grains and potatoes was greater in men than in women(Z=1.86,P<0.05).The intakes of grains and potatoes, vegetables and drinking water were positively correlated with age(r=0.18,0.15,0.21,all P<0.05).In all kinds of food, only grains and potatoes, and eggs were consumed more than the surveillance data sourced from the Cohort Study on Changes in Nutritional Status of Chinese Residents in 2015(Z=8.50,11.28,both P<0.05).Conclusions The dietary structure of urban residents in Pingdingshan is not reasonable, the intake of vegetables, fruits, milk and dairy products, aquatic products,soy-beans,and nuts are not enough. We should continue to increase the science popularization efforts, and cultivate a reasonable diet, balanced nutrition of good eating habits.
