Analysis of willingness and influencing factors of pneumococcal vaccination in 451 elderly patients with diabetes mellitus in Shaxian district,Sanming city
Objective To explore the willingness and influencing factors of pneumococcal vaccination in elderly diabetic pa-tients.Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted among elderly diabetic patients treated in Shaxian District Hospital from July to October 2022.The general information of the patients and their willingness to receive 23-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine(PPV23)were investigated, and multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of PPV23 vaccination willingness in diabetic patients. Results A total of 451 elderly diabetic patients were investigated, with an average age of(67.9±6.8)years,of whom 334(74.06%)were willing to receive PPV23 vaccination. The results of multivariate analysis showed that the patients who concern about their own health(OR=7.700),knowing PPV23(OR=6.851),knowing where to vaccinate PPV23(OR=3.750),and thinking that the consequences of pneumonia were more serious in the elderly and chronic patients(OR=1.850)were more likely to be willing to receive PPV23 vaccination. Conclusions The knowledge of disease and vaccine, the location of vaccination and the concern of self-health are the influencing factors of PPV23 vaccination willingness in elderly diabetic patients.
