Analysis on epidemiological characteristics of poisoning injuries in Ningxia surveillance sites,2016-2019
Objective To analyze the epidemiological distribution of poisoning injury cases in Ningxia,and provide scientific basis for the regional poisoning injury prevention and control strategies.Methods Poisoning injury data from Ningxia surveillance sites from 2016 to 2019 were obtained through the National Injury Surveillance and Reporting System.Data were classified according to WHO injury monitoring guidelines and analyzed using SPSS 25.0 and Excel 2010 software after cleaning.Results A total of 4 307 poisoning injury cases were identified from 2016 to 2019.The male to female ratio was 1.1∶1.The majority of cases(49.0%)were in the of 20-<40 years age group,with a third(36.2%)having a middle school education level.Business/service workers(22.2%)were most affected.The primary causes of poisoning were alcohol(33.5%),drug(23.4%),and carbon monoxide(21.0%),with variations in rankings between urban/rural areas and genders.Most poisonings occurred at home(60.9%),were unintentional(66.4%),and resulted in mild(42.5%)or moderate(40.1%)sverity.Common outcomes included hospital observation(40.7%)and discharge after treatment(30.0%).Conclusions Poisoning injury in Ningxia predominantly affected middle-aged and young individuals,mostly occurred at home,with alcohol,medication and carbon monoxidebeing th main causes.
