Epidemiological characteristics of HIV/AIDS cases aged≥50 years in Wuhan,2012-2021
Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of HIV/AIDS cases aged≥50 years in Wuhan city,and provide evidence for formulating targeted intervention measures.Methods The data of HIV/AIDS cases aged≥50 years who reported their current address in Wuhan from 2012 to 2021 were collected,and descriptive epidemiological method was used to analyze their epidemiological characteristics.Results From 2012 to 2021,a total of 2 017 HIV/AIDS cases aged ≥ 50 were reported in Wuhan,and 1 666 of them were male,accounting for 82.6%.The average age was(60.7±8.3)years,and the proportion of HIV/AIDS cases aged ≥ 50 years among newly reported cases in that year showed an increasing trend(x2trend=31.612,P<0.05).In 2021 263 cases were reported,accounting for 30.4%;a total of 1 002 cases had marriage of divorce or widowhood,accounting for 49.7%;1 178 cases had education attainment with junior high school and below,accounting for 58.4%;there were 1 348 cases with heterosexual transmission,accounting for 66.8%;592 cases had non-marital and non-commercial sexual activities,accounting for 53.7%.There were 824 cases with the first CD4+T lymphocyte(CD4 cell)detection result less than 200/μL,accounting for 45.1%.From 2012 to 2021,Wuhan reported 476 deaths from HIV/AIDS cases aged ≥ 50 years,with a cumulative mortality rate of 23.6%.Conclusions HIV/AIDS cases aged ≥50 years in Wuhan are on the rise,and non-marital and non-commercial sexual behavior is the main way of heterosexual transmission.AIDS education should be carried out according to the characteristics of people aged ≥ 50 years,and the intervention and early detection of high-risk behaviors through sexual transmission should be strengthened.
