Surveillance results of iodine nutrition status among the children and pregnant women in Weishi,Kaifeng,2019-2023
Objective To analyze iodine nutrition status among the children and pregnant women in Weishi County from 2019 to 2023,so as to provide a scientific basis for formulating the prevention and control strategy of iodine deficiency diseases Methods F rom 2019 to 2023,200 children aged 8-10 years and 100 pregnant women were selected from Weishi County,Kaifeng City every year as research subjects.Random urine samples and salt samples at home were collected from children and pregnant women to detect urine iodine and salt iodine content.Thyroid volume in children was measured;thyroid nodules were screened,and goiter rate was calculated.Results From 2019 to 2023,among the 1 000 urine samples of children aged 8-10 years in Weishi county,the median urinary iodine levels were 114,139,166,142 and 177 μg/L,respectively,and the frequency distribution of 100-<200 μg/L was highest,accounting for 44.70%.Among the 500 urine samples of pregnant women,the median urinary iodine levels were 189,166,212,237 and 194 μg/L,respectively,and the frequency distribution of 150-<250 μg/L was highest,accounting for 52.60%.Iodine nutrition levels were appropriate in both children and pregnant women.The rate of goiter in 1 000 children aged 8-10 years was 0.90%.The coverage rate of iodized salt was 98.27%,and the consumption rate of qualified iodized salt was 94.71%.Conclusions From 2019 to 2023,the iodine nutrition among the children and pregnant women in Weishi County were at an appropriate level.The goiter rate of children aged 8-10 years was<5%,which met the national standard for the elimination of iodine deficiency diseases.It is suggested to keep implementing the iodine deficiency disease prevention and control strategy mainly based on salt iodization,and strengthening monitoring of key populations.
