Investigation of disinfection status of ultraviolet lamps in kindergartens in Henan Province from 2021 to 2023
Objective To assess the disinfection status of ultraviolet(UV)lamps in kindergartens across Henan Province,so as to provide a basis for UV disinfection quality control. Methods A survey was conducted from 2021 to 2023 in 256 kindergartens in 18 cities within Henan Province.Data on the management and usage of UV lamps were collected via on-site questionnaires. The irradiation intensity of UV lamps was measured using a UV irradiance meter. Results All 256 kindergartens surveyed were equipped with UV lamps, with the classrooms bring the primry locations for installation(93.44%).Disinfection primarily targeted air(98.05%)and surfaces(81.25%).Of the 161 kindergartens surveyed,85(52.80%)requested qualification certificates during UV lamp procurement.Among the 256 kindergartens surveyed, regular supervision was reported by 143(55.86%)of the kindergartens, while 119(46.48%)conducted routine irradiation intensity monitoring.A total of 1 693 UV lamps were inspected, with an overall irradiation intensity qualification rate of 68.16%.The qualified rate showed upward trend from 53.02%(447/843)in 2021,to 84.36%(588/697)in 2023(x2 trend=174.42,P<0.05).Among the 539 unqualified UV lamps,189 had an irradiation intensity of 0 μW/cm2,accounting for 35.06%of the total unqualified lamps. Conclusions Despite the widespread use of UV lamps, there are still significant issues with their disinfection effectiveness in the kindergartens of Henan Province, including inadequate management and unqualified irradiation intensity. There is an urgent need to strengthen monitoring and usage management to ensure the efficacy of UV disinfection.
