Distribution characteristics of height and weight among primary and secondary school students in Weihui of Henan Province from 2011 to 2023
Objective To analyze the characteristics and secular trends of height and weight growth and development among pri-mary and secondary school students in Weihui,so as to provide data support for the development work and research of school health.Methods The data of health examination among primary and secondary school students aged 6 to 14 in Weihui from 2011 to 2023 were collected,and the characteristics of height and weight were analyzed.Results A total of 757 509 students,402 940 boys and 354 569 girls,were surveyed from 2011 to 2023 among the students aged 6-14 in Weihui.The height growth peaks among the boys and girls were at the age of 12 and 10 years,with an average increase of 6.76 cm and 6.43 cm compared to the previous age group,respectively.Boys'height exceeded girls'height at the age of 12 years(t=11.343,P<0.05).The weight growth peaks among the boys and girls were at the age of 13 and 11 years,with an average increase of 5.13 kg and 4.96 kg compared to the previous age group,respectively.From 2011 to 2023,average heights and weights of boys and girls across different age groups had increased to varying degrees.The age groups that had the greatest increases in height were 11-year-old group(6.26 cm)for boys and 10-year-old group(6.48 cm)for girls.The age groups that had the greatest increase in weight were 13-year-old group(5.13 kg)for boys and 11-year-old group(5.59 kg)for girls.Conclusions From 2011 to 2023,the heights and weights among the primary and secondary school students showed an upward trend in in Weihui,and the growth and development peaks between boys and girls were different.
