Epidemiological characteristics and spatiotemporal distribution of hepatitis C in Liangzhou District of Wuwei City,2016-2023
Objective To analyze the epidemiological and spatiotemporal aggregation characteristics of hepatitis C(HCV)in Liangzhou District of Wuwei City, providing insights for HCV prevention and control strategies. Methods The incidence data of HCV from 2016 to 2023 were obtained through the China Disease Prevention and Control Surveillance Information System for Infectious Diseases.Descriptive epidemiology was utilized to analyze the epidemiological characteristics, and spatial autocorrelation as along with hot and cold spot analysis were performed using ArcGIS 10.6 software. Results A total of 8 207 cases of HCV were reportedwith an average annual reported incidence rate of 106.04/105,showing significant inter-annual variability(x2=493.680,P<0.05),there was a significant decreasing trend observed annually(x2trend=316.639,P<0.05)Cases spanned from 0 to 94 years old, with 81.53%of cases in the 40~<80 years age group. The average annual incidence rates were 50.33/105 for males and 55.72/105 for females, with a male-to-female ratio of 0.90:1.Most of the cases were farmers(77.14%).A clear seasonal pattern was observed, with most cases were concentrated in urban main streets and surrounding townships.Spatial autocorrelation analysis revealed that significant spatial clustering, with high-incidence areas tending to be adjacent to each other and similarly for low-incidence areas. Conclusions The hepatitis C epidemic in Liangzhou District from 2016 to 2023 exhibited a declining trend. The disease incidence is characterized by population prevalence and spatiotemporal clustering, predominantly in urban main streets and surrounding townships. The patients were mainly farmers.Targeted interventions,in these areas, such as improving public awareness of HCV prevention and treatment knowledge, are recommended for more effective HCV control.
