Research on Quenching Medium Parameters on Residual Stresses in Aluminum Alloy Plates
This study employs the hole-drilling method to test the quenching residual stress under various quenching media, different water temperatures, and different concentrations of PAG solution. The influence of quenching media parameters on the level and distribution of residual stress was analyzed. It provides an experimental basis for quenching media selection. The results show that the effect of quenching media parameters on quenching residual stress follows this pattern:as the water temperature increases, quenching residual stress gradually decreases.Compared to quenching with 20℃water,quenching with 80℃water reduces the residual stress by approximately 60%.With an increase in PAG concentration, quenching residual stress progressively decreases. When compared to quenching with 20℃water,quenching with 15%PAG solution results in the most significant reduction of residual stress,up to 72.9%.Under the parameters of various quenching media, the quenching residual stress levels for 7055 aluminum alloy thick plates are in the following order:10%NaCl+KNO3 solution>20℃water>5%PAG solution.Notably, quenching with 10%NaCl+KNO3 solution increases the stress level by approximately 20%compared to quenching with 20℃water.
