Study on the Transmission-Change Rules of Treatment and Diagnosis of Cough and Fever Diseases Based on Exterior Cold with Interior Fluid Retention
Cough and fever are in the disease process,and their symptoms and pathogenesis are not fixed,but gradually develop and change.In the early stage,pathogenic factors invade the greater yang meridian,leading to serious exterior cold with interior fluid reten-tion.Intervention with drugs can cause the cure or transmission of the disease.If the disease enters the interior,transforms heat and com-bines with heat and fluid retention,or enters the lesser yin meridian,yang deficiency,water accumulation and qi counterflow will occur.For exogenous cough and fever with exterior cold with interior fluid retention as the pathogenic mechanism,the treatment and transmis-sion lie in the degree of cold,the amount of fluid retention,and whether transformed heat has damaged the healthy qi or not.When wind-cold invades the greater yang meridian,exterior cold will bind the surface,then Ephedra Decoction,or Licorice and Ephedra Decoction can be used.If there is cold binding and fluid retention,Minor Green Dragon Decoction can be used.If there is serious cold fluid reten-tion and qi counterflow,Belamcanda and Ephedra Decoction can be used.When wind-cold binds the surface for a long time and trans-forms into heat,the lighter case is treated with Maidservant from Yue Decoction,or Ephedra and Apricot Kernel and Gypsum and Lico-rice Decoction;the heavier case is treated with Minor Green Dragon Decoction combined with Gypsum Decoction,or Officinal Magnolia Bark and Ephedra Decoction.If body fluid and stagnated heat harms the healthy qi,Life-Sustaining Decoction and Herba Euphoribiae Helioscopiae in Ancient and Modern Records of Proven Formulas can be used.If wind and cold pathogens invade the greater yang meridi-an and the lesser yin meridian and cause a two-way transmission,then Major Green Dragon Decoction plus Aconite,or Minor Green Dragon Decoction plus Aconite can be used.If the healthy qi is insufficient with mild exterior cold and interior retention,Ephedra and Aconite and Asarum Decoction,Ephedra and Aconite and Licorice Decoction,Cinnamon Twig Decoction plus Peony combined with Mod-ified Ephedra and Aconite and Asarum Decoction can be used.In the latter stage of exogenous diseases,with yang qi deficiency and ex-cessive water and dampness,the lung may be affected,so Cinnamon Twig and Poria Five-Ingredient and Licorice Decoction,Poria and Licorice Five-Ingredient and Rhizoma Zingiberis and Asarum Decoction,Poria and Licorice Five-Ingredient and Rhizoma Zingiberis and Asarum and Rhizoma Pinelliae and Semen Armeniacae Amarum Decoction,etc.can be used.If yang deficiency and fluid retention are excessive,True Warrior Decoction plus Ganjiang(Rhizoma Zingiberis),Xixin(Radix et Rhizoma Asari),Wuweizi(Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis),etc.can be used.
