Study on the Situation and Type Features of Carved Medical Books in Henan Province During the Qing Dynasty
There are a total of 19 carved medical books during the Qing Dynasty which have been discovered in Henan Province and studied,including 2 official ones,12 folklore ones,and 5 private ones.These books are comprehensive in content and involve various clinical departments.The Experienced First Aid Formulas is a work on classic formulas;Yu Yi Shuangbi is a work on typhoid and patho-gen-removing school physicians;Simple Acupuncture and Moxibustion is a work on acupuncture and moxibustion;Seventy-two Pathogenic Symptoms is a work on internal medicine of TCM emergency;Essential Teachings on Childbirth,The Essential Principles of Dasheng Com-pilation,Zhuangshi Fuyu Bian Suisheng Bian,Fu Qing-zhu's Treatise on Male Disorders and Obsterics and Gynecology are works on gy-necology,pediatrics,and andrology of TCM;New Text on Caring for the Elderly,Life and Physiology,The Classic of Sinew Transformation for Health are works on TCM health preservation;Summary of Systematic Differentiation of Warm Diseases is a work on the study of in-fectious diseases;Complete Book of Diagnosis and Treatment of External Diseases,Life-Saving Manual of Diagnosis and Treatment of Ex-ternal Diseases are works on TCM surgery;Baochi Tuina Technique is a work on Tuina therapy;Modified First Fine Life-Saving Immortal Pill Experienced Formula is a work on orthopedics;Huixi Medical Records and Bihua Medical Mirror cover various fields of TCM,inclu-ding internal,external,gynecological,and pediatric medicine.However,compared to other books carved at the same time,the number of carved medical books is relatively small.The main focus of the caved publication is on Kaifeng,with most of them being carved in the folklore and the authors mainly being medical experts from outside the province.Although they do not fully outline the overall style of the works of Henan medical experts in the Qing Dynasty,these medical books still play an important role in preserving the text of TCM works,promoting the academic inheritance and development of TCM,enriching the culture of Central Plains medicine,and popularizing knowledge of TCM.In a word,they are an important carrier for understanding the development of TCM in Henan during the Qing Dynas-ty.
