Research Progress in the Treatment of Cervical Human Papilloma Virus Infection with Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine
The methods of traditional Chinese and Western medicine for treating cervical human papilloma virus(HPV)infection mainly include Western medicine treatment,TCM treatment,physical and surgical treatment,combined treatment,etc.The clinical efficacy of the combined therapy is more significant than that of a single treatment method.However,existing research still has the following short-comings:(1)Currently,only a few studies have shown significant therapeutic effects in some combined therapy regimens,and there is a lack of broader research to confirm them;(2)The treatment drugs and treatment plan of the combination of internal and external use of Chinese medicinals are relatively simple.Vaginal drug delivery mostly uses existing traditional Chinese patent medicine preparations,and there is a lack of more drug research on vaginal drug delivery and cervical drug delivery;(3)At present,there are many TCM for-mulas that have proven effective in clinical treatment of HPV infection but have not been confirmed to have their effects through modern pharmacological research.In the future,research can focus on the following aspects:(1)For combined therapy regimens that have only been confirmed to be effective in a few studies,more randomized controlled clinical research methods can be used to confirm their effica-cy;(2)In the future,it is necessary to further explore other effective topical Chinese medicine preparations and more significant and sa-fer TCM combined treatment plans compared to single treatment methods.For example,the combination of traditional Chinese medicine decoction for oral administration,vaginal washing with Chinese medicinal lotion,and cervical application with Chinese medicinal oint-ment for treatment.Oral administration of Chinese medicinal decoction improves physical fitness while vaginal administration directly reaches the disease site,achieving a dual effect to improve efficacy;(3)For some TCM formulas that have been clinically effective but have not been confirmed by modern medical pharmacology and toxicology research,further network pharmacology research can be ap-plied to explore whether the drugs in these formulas have anti-cervical HPV infection and anti-cervical cancer effects,in order to provide modern pharmacology basis for the treatment of cervical HPV infection with TCM formulas.
