Clinical Observation of Nerve Trunk Acupuncture for the Treatment of Lumbar Disc Herniation
Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of nerve trunk acupuncture on lumbar disc herniation(LDH).Methods:A total of 60 patients with LDH who were treated at Songshan Hospital of Zhengzhou from May 2020 to May 2021 were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group, with 30 cases in each group. Both groups received conventional acupuncture treatment first. Then the control group additionally received diclofenac diethylamine emulgel, while the observation group additionally received nerve trunk acupuncture(including lumbar nerve root stimulation points, lumbar plexus stimulation points, and sciatic nerve points). The changes in visual analogue scale(VAS)score,Japanese Orthopaedic Association(JOA)score,Oswestry Disability Index(ODI)score, and levels of tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-α,interleukin(IL)-1β,and IL-6 before and after treatment, clinical efficacy and the incidence of adverse reactions were observed. Results:After 2 and 4 weeks of treatment, the VAS score in the observation group was low-er than that in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).After 4 weeks of treatment, the JOA score in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).After4 weeks of treat-ment,the ODI score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).After 4 weeks of treatment, the levels of TNF-α,IL-1β,and IL-6 in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The effective rate in the observation group was 86.67%,higher than 70.00%in the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).There were no adverse reactions in the observation group, while the control group had one case of a mild rash. The difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion:Nerve trunk acupuncture can relieve pain in patients with LDH,promote the re-covery of lumbar function, and reduce inflammatory responses.
