The treatments of vertebrobasilar insufficiency vertigo with traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)primarily include Chinese medicinal decoction,Chinese patent medicine,Chinese medicinal injection,etc.These treatments are effective in nourishing blood,toni-fying the kidney,promoting blood circulation and dredging collaterals,calming the liver,stabilizing vertigo,nourishing yin,and subduing yang.The mechanisms by which TCM treats vertebrobasilar insufficiency vertigo include improving clinical efficacy,enhancing hemorhe-ology,and accelerating blood flow in the vertebrobasilar arteries.However,current research faces several limitations,such as insufficient depth of existing indicator studies,lack of multi-center,large sample randomized controlled trials,lack of long-term follow-ups,and in-consistent efficacy evaluation criteria.In the future,it is necessary to strengthen large-scale and multi-center clinical research,standard-ize efficacy standards,increase quantitative research,extend follow-ups,and provide more high-quality evidence support for the treatment of vertebrobasilar artery insufficiency vertigo with TCM.
