Study on Traditional Chinese Medicine Strategies for the Prevention and Treatment of Perimenopausal Hypertension Based on the Theory of Midnight-Midday Ebb Flow
The fundamental pathology of perimenopausal hypertension is due to kidney deficiency as the root cause and liver stagnation as the manifestation. The theory of midnight-midday ebb flow is a vital concept in TCM that explains the synchronization of human qi and blood flow with natural cycles, revealing the laws of functional activities and pathological changes influenced by the natural environ-ment.The development of this theory is predicated on the change of time periods, while its application relies on the variations in qi and blood flow. Therefore,in recognizing perimenopausal hypertension, attention should be paid to the fluctuation of qi and blood flow at dif-ferent times, focusing on temporal differentiation and the state of qi and blood. For the prevention and treatment of perimenopausal hy-pertension,strategies should encompass three aspects:"harmonization-nourishment-treatment"This involves timely adjustment of life-style,combining acupuncture and medication, and tailoring treatment according to seasonal changes.Additionally, the theory of midnight-midday ebb flow can be applied to optimize the timing of antihypertensive medications, such as administering doses at night and observ-ing the therapeutic effects.
