This study is based on the work Treatise on the Spleen and Stomach by Li Gao,a representative physician of the Yishui School.By examining his references to Zhang Zhongjing's words and formulas,it has been found:First,after Treatise on Cold Damage Diseases was corrected and published by the Bureau of Correcting Medical Books in the Northern Song Dynasty,it became widely circu-lated during the Song and Jin dynasties,profoundly influencing northern physicians such as Li Gao,etc.Second,Li Gao,inheriting the innovative medicine spirit of Jin-Yuan dynasties,reinterpreted Zhang Zhongjing's formulas through the lens of the Yishui School's theory on the application of visceral and seasonal medicines,placing great emphasis on the timely use of medicine when applying Zhongjing's formulas.Third,based on the discussion about various formulas by Zhang Zhongjing in Treatise on the Spleen and Stomach,it is evident that under the influence of the Yishui School's theories,Li Gao developed new interpretations of Zhongjing's formulas,making adjust-ments based on clinical evidences.
