Study on the Treatment of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome from the Perspective of"Deficiency-Induced Depression"
Chronic fatigue syndrome(CFS)primarily involves dysfunction of the spleen and kidney, resulting from spleen-kidney defi-ciency,qi movement stagnation, and obstruction by phlegm, dampness, and blood stasis.Liver dysfunction in regulating qi flow is also a critical factor in the progression of CFS,with kidney yang deficiency as the root cause and middle-energizer deficiency as the superficial manifestation.Spleen and stomach deficiency is closely related to the onset of CFS,as these organs play a vital role in maintaining men-tal activities, with qi stagnation being the core pathological mechanism. The theoretical foundation of"deficiency-induced depression"stems from the doctrine of the five zang organs governing mental faculties and their physiological functions. From this perspective, the authors emphasize the concept of tonifying the spleen and kidney throughout the treatment process, adhering to the general principle of"warming and supplementing the spleen and kidney."Specific treatment approaches include tonifying the spleen and kidney, regulating ascending and descending functions, resolving phlegm and dampness, and eliminating blood stasis. For CFS caused by spleen-kidney de-ficiency,attention should also be given to emotional regulation and dietary adjustments.
