Zheng Xueping's Experience of Managing Postoperative Wounds After Anal Fistula Surgery
Professor Zheng Xueping believes that though the surgery for anal fistula is important, the key to successful treatment lies in the postoperative wound healing.Under normal physiological conditions, wound healing goes through four stages:hemostasis,inflamma-tion,proliferation,and remodeling. However, external factors and cellular stress can disrupt the smooth progression of these stages. When inflammatory cells become excessively active and release large amounts of inflammatory factors, the wound will fail to heal properly, and may even deteriorate. These issues are particularly common in patients following anal fistula surgery.According to Professor Zheng, the major influencing factors include:(1)Surgical factors;(2)Infection factors;(3)Bowel movement factors;(4)Individual factors. In addition,Professor Zheng places great importance on managing the postoperative wound, emphasizing the need to maintain smooth drain-age,and the flexible use of both external and internal TCM treatments, which can effectively promote wound healing and improve the o-verall therapeutic outcome for anal fistula treatment.
