Interpretation of the national standard on Operation Specifications for Four Diagnostic Methods in Chinese Medicine-Part 2:Listening and Smelling
The Chinese standard GB/T 40665.2-2021 Operation Specifications for Four Diagnostic Methods in Chinese Medicine-Part 2:Listening and Smelling was jointly issued by the State Administration for Market Regulation and the National Standardization Administration on November 26th,2021.Led by Professor ZHU Wenfeng from Hunan University of Chinese Medicine and with the participation of experts from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine,Fujian University of Chinese Medicine,and Yunnan University of Chinese Medicine,the standard has been formulated based upon the decision-making,several rounds of discussion and validation by multiple experts in the field.It provides a detailed description of the definitions,basic requirements,and contents of the diagnostic methods of listening and smelling,fourteen judgment requirements related to listening and four related to smelling,as well as the operational precautions.Based on this,this paper summarizes the main contents of listening and smelling and systematically reviews their definitions,basic requirements,judgment indicators,and operational precautions.It aims to provide norms and guidance both for clinicians to diagnose diseases and for Chinese medicine students to learn the diagnostic methods of listening and smelling.
